چکیده

Background Quantification of myocardial blood flow (MBF) using first-pass perfusion MRI has potential to objectively evaluate ischemic heart disease. While considerable development and clinical research has been conducted during the past two decades on this topic, there lacks a perfusion flow mapping solution that runs on the MRI scanner and produces MBF maps immediately following the perfusion scan. To be effective in a clinical environment we identified following capabilities are needed: fully automated workflow, pixel-wise flow calculation, single-bolus contrast injection, complete free-breathing acquisition, rapid processing, and inline deployment.

Correcting T2* effects in the myocardial perfusion arterial input function avoids overestimation of myocardial blood flow

Background Quantitative myocardial perfusion imaging requires correct measurement of arterial Gd concentration as the input function (AIF). An underestimation of AIF Gd concentration will lead to overestimation of myocardial blood flow (MBF). One source of this underestimation is the T2* effect due to high Gd concentration in the AIF measurement. Despite the short echo time (0.65 ms) used in th...

Nicorandil effect on myocardial perfusion in patients with slow coronary flow phenomenon assessment by gated myocardial perfusion SPECT

Introduction:Patients with the coronary slow flow phenomenon (SCF) frequently experience angina episodes. The purpose of this study was to determine efficacy of nicorandil in myocardial perfusion in patients with SCF. Methods: Twenty patients (50.85 ± 12.96 y) with SCF were studied.  We evaluate coronary slow flow according to protracted thrombolysis in m...

Semi-quantitative segmental perfusion scoring in myocardial perfusion SPECT: visual vs. automated analysis

Introduction: It is recommended that the physician apply at least a semi-quantitative segmental scoring system in myocardial perfusion SPECT.  We aimed to assess the agreement between automated semi-quantitative analysis using QPS (quantitative Perfusion SPECT) software and visual approach for calculation of summed stress  score (SSS), summed rest score (SRS) and summed difference score (SDS). ...

Three slice myocardial coverage using non-ECG-triggered perfusion imaging with integrated T1 mapping for quantifying myocardial blood flow

Background A single-bolus non-ECG-triggered method was previously proposed to reduce the complexity of quantitative myocardial perfusion imaging [1]. Compared to conventional dual-bolus method, the arterial input function (AIF) is derived from imaging data, eliminating the need for an additional scan. The imaging workflow is further simplified by retrospectively determining the proper reconstru...

Myocardial perfusion SPECT: Perfusion quantification

Different software tools for quantification of myocardial perfusion SPECT (MPS) studies are routinely used. Several perfusion parameters can be computed automatically.  Interpretation of the MPS should start with visual inspection of the rotating planar images, visual analysis of reconstructed SPECT slices and then quantitative analysis to confirm the visual impression. Quantification should be...
